The Best Crispy Cheese Chaffle Recipe Ever!

Pinterest Hidden Image

This cheese chaffles recipe is an upgrade to the basic chaffle recipe. It uses just 4 ingredients (3, if you omit the xantham gum) to deliver a solid base for my favorite way to use it: a chaffle pizza!

It’s great on its own though. Make them as a snack, dip them in keto marinara sauce, put them in your lunch box or make them for brekkie when you need to increase your fat and protein content, because it’s loaded!

Look at this crispy golden goodness.

Why I Love Cheese Chaffles

Since I started the keto diet about 3 years ago, cheese chaffles have been my favourite new keto food to make. So easy and amazingly versatile.

You can make chaffles sweet or savory, eat them breakfast or a snack.

They’re light and fluffy and full of flavor. Perfect substitute to regular waffles or even bread.

What You Need to Make Crispy Cheese Chaffles

I used my Black and Decker Belgian Waffle maker to make these chaffles. It gives me a large 7.25″ waffle that’s the perfect size for a personal pizza or a good lunch serving in one go.

Or, you can use a Mini Dash Chaffle Maker to make cute small 4″ waffles.I personally love the mini waffle maker because, for some reason, I don’t feel guilty if I eat too many cheese chaffles…haha—reverse psychology.

Crispy Cheese Chaffles Recipe

To make this crispy cheese chaffle, all you’ll need are these 4 ingredients:

  • 1 cup low-moisture mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 tbsp almond flour
  • 1/2 tsp xanthan gum (feel free to omit this if you don’t have any on hand)
  • 1 large egg

Feel free to add other seasonings to the mix if you’d like. I like to add dried herbs when I’m using this recipe as the base for a chaffle pizza. I also double the recipe in its entirety if I am making two.

Putting the finished chaffle on a cooling rack will help it to crisp up even more. The center will still be nice and ooey-gooey for a delicious savory chaffle.

No xanthan gum? This recipe will still be great without it! Check out my basic chaffle recipe here.

What to Serve With Cheese Chaffles

You do you, babe. You can make these savory and add pizza toppings or make it sweet and add all-natural peanut butter and sugar-free jam, or even keto honey.

You can serve them on the side as well with a nice bowl of soup. The possibilities are endless.
