Pork Rind Nachos with Easy Keto Nacho Cheese Sauce
Listen. I’ve died and gone to keto snack heaven. I finally bit the bullet and decided to give pork rinds a try and I’m mad nobody told me they were this good! I’ve been gobbling them down daily and one of my favorite ways to do so is to make Pork Rind Nachos with the easiest keto nacho cheese sauce I’ve tried. This sauce is bomb and now I put it on everything, but my current fave is definitely over some pork rinds.
This is the brand I’ve purchased and I’m not ashamed to say that I’m almost finished with the second tub of this in two weeks!
Let me tell you, the tub is huge. I know you can’t tell in that picture, but it’s a very large tub. In fact, I’m using the first empty tub as a saving pan for me and my little one and I expect it to last us the entire year. I’m planning to cut the second one and plant basil in it but let’s get back to the incredibleness that is pork rinds.
The skin of the pig is fried in pork fat which turns it into a light and airy chip with an incredible crunch. The whole house can hear me when I’m munching on some pork skins and man do I love that crunch. They’re lightly salted and the perfect replacement for potato chips, cheetos and other crunchy snacks.
They’re not pricey either, thankfully! Keto snacks can get up there but pork rinds, aka chicharrones, has been a Mexican snack long before keto became popular. Pork rinds just so happen to be virtually carb-free and perfect for keto.
Original pork rinds are very light in flavor, which means you can dip them in your favorite low carb dipping sauce and go to town. I’ve used them as a side for my stew chicken with lots of gravy and oh gosh it was just perfect.
Keto Nacho Cheese Sauce
This nacho cheese sauce is quite versatile and can be poured over steamed broccoli, used as a dip for a fresh veggie platter like bell peppers, tomatoes, celery and carrots, or poured over low carb nachos!
If you do a search for nacho cheese recipe you’ll likely find flour or cornstarch in the mix which is so weird. We like to add unhealthy ingredients to our recipes just because.
This is a creamy nacho cheese recipe that’s only 4 ingredients and absolutely delicious. To make the sauce you’ll need:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese)
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin
You can also add chili, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic and onion powder to the sauce if you’re feeling fancy but those 4 basic ingredients will do.
To make the sauce, melt the butter in a sauce pan, add the heavy cream bit by bit to the melted butter so that it incorporates and emulsifies without separating then add your cheese and seasonings. That’s it!
The only part to pay close attention to is your heavy cream. The recipe calls for 3/4 cup heavy cream and I use a 1/4 cup measuring cup and add my cream in three parts to my sauce pan. This helps everything to incorporate quite nicely resulting in a smooth and creamy sauce that’s easy to pour or dip into.
Once the sauce is made, assemble your keto nachos! I’ve kept this recipe quite light and easy by simply topping the pork rinds with my cheese sauce, some sliced jalapenos and a dollop of sour cream. Feel free to go crazy with your favorite toppings. This would be delicious topped with ground beef, my Keto Pulled Pork or the filling for my keto Taco Cups.

Nutrition
I know the recipe says serves 4 but good luck getting it to split between 4 people. Me and my mom gobbled this down in 2.5 seconds flat! The good news is that with a high amount of fat and protein with so little carbs, it’s really ok to gobble it down if you’re following the ketogenic diet.
It keeps me full all day long and I’m usually only able to have a very light dinner if I’ve had this for lunch.
