Pork Rind Nachos with Easy Keto Nacho Cheese Sauce

I’ve died and gone to keto snack heaven. I finally bit the bullet and decided to give pork rinds a try, and I’m mad that nobody told me they were this good! I’ve been gobbling them down daily, and one of my favorite ways to do so is to make Pork Rind Nachos with the easiest keto cheese sauce I’ve tried.

This sauce is bomb, and now I put it on everything, but my current fave is definitely over some pork rinds.

Why Pork Rind Nachos?

We already know we can’t eat regular nacho chips or any regular chips on the keto diet, and pork rinds are the perfect substitute for when you crave salty and crunchy food. Personally, I miss having nachos because of my new low-carb eating habits, so this pork rind nachos recipe is a fantastic sub.

Here’s a bit about pork rinds you might not already know.

The skin of the pig is fried in pork fat, which turns it into a light and airy chip with an incredible crunch. The whole house can hear me when I’m munching on some pork skins, and man, do I love that crunch. They’re lightly salted and the perfect replacement for potato chips, Cheetos, and other crunchy snacks.

They’re not pricey either, thankfully! Keto snacks can get up there in price, but pork rinds, aka chicharrones, have been a Mexican snack long before keto became popular. Pork rinds just so happen to be virtually carb-free and perfect for keto.

Original pork rinds are very light in flavor, which means you can dip them in your favorite low-carb dipping sauce and go to town.

What You Need to Make Pork Rind Nachos and Keto Cheese Sauce

Honestly, the star of this show is the keto cheese sauce. It’s super easy to make, and I guarantee you’ll be making it for more than just pork rind nachos. This sauce will also be delicious paired with some crunchy and tasty keto crackers like these ones.

This nacho cheese sauce is versatile. It can be poured over steamed broccoli, used as a dip for a fresh veggie platter like bell peppers, tomatoes, celery, and carrots, or, of course, poured over low-carb nachos!

If you search for a nacho cheese recipe, you’ll likely find flour or cornstarch in the mix, which is so weird. This keto cheese sauce is 100% keto! No added bad carbs.

Ingredients for keto cheese sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese)
  • 1/4 tsp cumin

You can also add chili, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic, and onion powder to the sauce if you’re feeling fancy, but those 4 basic ingredients listed above will do just fine.

For the complete keto pork rind nachos, you’ll need these ingredients:

  • pork rinds
  • sour cream
  • jalapeno peppers
  • any other keto-friendly toppings you want to add

How to Make Pork Rind Nachos With Keto Cheese Sauce

To make the sauce, melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the heavy cream bit by bit to the melted butter so that it incorporates and emulsifies without separating, then add your cheese and seasonings. That’s it!

The only part to pay close attention to is your heavy cream. The recipe calls for 3/4 cup heavy cream, and I use a 1/4 cup measuring cup and add my cream in three parts to my saucepan. This helps everything to incorporate quite nicely, resulting in a smooth and creamy sauce that’s easy to pour or dip into.

Once the sauce is made, assemble your keto nachos! I’ve kept this recipe quite light and easy by simply topping the pork rinds with my cheese sauce, some sliced jalapenos, and a dollop of sour cream.

Feel free to go crazy with your favorite toppings. This would be delicious topped with ground beef, and my Keto Pulled Pork, or the filling for my keto Taco Cups.
