We already know that berries, including strawberries, are some of the lowest carb fruits that you can eat. So being able to add chocolate to strawberries really makes this snack or dessert a real treat. The key is using sugar free chocolate chips when making sugar free chocolate covered strawberries.

You can find no sugar added chocolate chips from Ghirardelli, one of my favorite brands, though it can be pricey. They come in dark chocolatae. Even everyday brand Hershey’s offers zero sugar chocolate chips. Also, 365 by Whole Foods Market has sugar-free dark chocolate baking chips, too. In addition, don’t let the sprinkles blow your carb count. I suggest using these keto rainbow sprinkles.

Anyway, you won’t believe how easy this recipe is to make. The longest part is waiting for the chocolate to harden on the strawberries after you’ve dipped them. Other than that, you’re looking at about five to 10 minutes of prep time.

Ingredients Overview

Step-by-Step Instructions

Combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for about two minutes or until melted. Whisk together until well combined.

Dip each strawberry in the melted chocolate, make sure to keep the green stems clean. Before the chocolate has a chance to harden, cover in sprinkles. You can do this by sprinkling them over the strawberries or you can put the sprinkles on parchment paper and then roll the strawberries in them.

Let the dipped and decorated strawberries rest on a wired tray. You’ll want to put parchment paper underneath to catch the dripping chocolate.

Once you have dipped and decorated all of the strawberries, put them in the fridge to let the chocolate harden. Keep them in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

When the chocolate has hardened, it’s time to enjoy them. If you’re serving these sugar free chocolate covered strawberries on a warm day, place the plate you have the strawberries on on top of a bowl of ice. You don’t want the strawberries to get to room temperature and start to sweat and melt.

Notes

Why do I recommend keeping the stems clean? You’ll want to be able to hold onto these sugar free chocolate covered strawberries during the dipping, later for decorating and also for eating.

As mentioned earlier, there are a number of sugar-free and keto- and carb-friendly ingredients you can use for this recipe. Here is a recap of those suggestions:
