Frozen Strawberry Margaritas
Margaritas suggest warm summer nights and moonlit beaches in the Caribbean. With this recipe, you can whip up a batch of fruity frozen cocktails and serve virgin or with alcohol at your next event. Or maybe you just want to relax at home after a hectic day.
Margaritas are quick and easy to make as they require few ingredients and can be made blended or shaken. The best Margaritas are made with silver or Blanco tequila, it doesn’t necessarily have to be top-shelf tequila as the strong taste of strawberries will mask the taste of even low-budget tequila.
You can use either fresh or frozen strawberries to make your margaritas. If you are using fresh be sure to wash properly and discard stems and leaves before tossing into the blender. There is no need to thaw frozen strawberries before using as these add thickness. Frozen strawberries allows you to enjoy this delight year round
Frozen Strawberry Margaritas
Ingredients:
- 1 16-oz. bag frozen strawberries
- ¼ c. fresh lime juice (2 large limes)
- 4 oz. white tequila
- 2 oz. orange-flavored liqueur, such as Cointreau
- Lime wheels and whole fresh strawberries, to garnish
- Optional:
- Ice or water, if needed, to adjust consistency after blending
- Coarse sugar and lime wedges to coat glass rim

Prepping for your party
If you are planning a party for the weekend these are the perfect cocktails to have on the menu as they are not only quick and easy to prepare but they can be made ahead of time. Whip up a batch toss it in the freezer and now you have one less thing to do the day of the party. The alcohol in the drink will keep it from freezing. Toss in the blender on the day of the party if you need to adjust the consistency Be sure to whip up a batch of the virgin version for the little ones.
Tips
- Blend margarita to desired consistency, add more ice to achieve a thicker mixture, and add more liquid to make it thinner. Using frozen strawberries reduces the need for a lot of ice resulting in a richer more tastier drink.
- You can also decrease or increase the amount of alcohol added to achieve the potency you require. Remember to appoint a designated driver if you are going in strong.
- For a Virgin Margarita eliminate alcohol altogether.

Note
You will need some margarita glasses to serve. If desired, rub a lime wedge along the top of each glass and dip it into a shallow bowl filled with some coarse sugar before filling. Garnish with a wedge of lime and serve.

Frozen Strawberry Margaritas
One perk of making fruity frozen cocktails is that you don’t need to splurge on the most expensive liqueurs to achieve fantastic results. A good quality 100% blue agave blanco (aka silver or white) tequila, an orange liqueur, such as Cointreau, Grand Marnier, or regular triple sec, and some fresh lime juice to pull it all together.
Ingredients
- 1 16-oz. bag frozen strawberries
- ¼ c. fresh lime juice (2 large limes)
- 4 oz. white tequila
- 2 oz. orange-flavored liqueur, such as Cointreau

Instructions
Place half the frozen strawberries into a high-powered blender. Add lime juice, tequila, and orange-flavored liquor. Cover and blend on highest setting until smooth, approximately 1-2 minutes.
Remove vent cap on blender lid and add the remaining frozen strawberries one at a time while the blender is still running. Continue blending until all strawberries have been added and the mixture is completely smooth. Note: For thicker margaritas, add some ice until desired consistency is reached. For thinner consistency, add a little water.
Pour into serving glasses and garnish with lime wheels and/or fresh strawberries right before serving. Enjoy!
